Additional Internship Opportunities
Student
Nurse
Summer
Employment Program
St.
Peter Community Hospital will offer a summer internship to a student
nurse who is in their third or final year of an accredited registered
nurse program. Preference will be given to students from the St.
Peter Area or who have family members in the area.
Students
will be able to gain knowledge and experience in a small, rural
community hospital. They will have the opportunity to observe and
participate in nursing care in the following areas:
Medical/Surgical Department
Obstetrics
Emergency Department
Urgent Care
Surgery
In
addition, at our facility we believe interdepartmental communication
and cooperation is vital for good patient care. It is important
for nurses to understand the important role that ancillary departments
play in the health of our patients. Therefore, the student can expect
to observe and gain knowledge in areas such as:
Pharmacy
Imaging
Laboratory
Rehab Services
Health Information Management
The
student may also be assigned to work on special projects, work as
an aide or as a health unit coordinator. They may also have the
opportunity to do an Ambulance Ride Along, attend nursing meetings
and help with clinics. Depending on the candidate and their past
clinical experience, they may do patient care under the supervision
of the RN or Preceptor.
Summer
students will work 32-40 hours per week and be paid with an hourly
salary. Employment will begin in June and end mid-August. Students
may be scheduled rotating shifts and weekends.
