Cardiac Rehab

 

 

 

Cardiac Rehab is a multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach to overall cardiovascular risk reduction. It is a comprehensive long term service involving medical evaluation, nutrition counseling, risk factor management, counseling and behavioural interventions along with physical activity counseling and exercise training. Our aim is to optimize cardiovascual risk reduction, foster healthy behaviors and compliance with these behaviors, reduce disability and promote an active lifestyle for patients with cardiovascular disease.

 

Cardiac Rehab sessions are scheduled two to three times per week for one hour sessions, Monday through Friday, for up to 36 sessions. The program consists of:

- A baseline assessment

- Nutritional counseling

- Risk factor management (lipids, blood pressure, weight, diabetes, & smoking)

- Psychosocial management

- Physical activity counseling

- Exercise training

 

Cardiac Rehab is run by registered nurses and exercise physiologists expecially trained in the program.

Most insurance, health maintenance organizations and government reimbursement plans will cover 80% of the program costs. Questions should be directed to your specific insurance provider.

 

Stress testing is also available. Treadmill stress tests and echo stress testing are scheduled weekly. Nuclear stress testing is offered the third Wednesday of each month.
